Volvo Playlist App

The new Volvo V40 launched with a series of dynamic driving modes to suit your personality, and to highlight this they wanted a way to represent personality and customisation online.

So, we built the Volvo V40 Playlist App, which allowed users to log in with Facebook and automatically read in all of their music likes. We then used an intelligent music analysis API by The Echo Nest to process the user’s likes, finally returning a series of recommended playlists for different moods, all in just a few seconds. Users could then drag their smart playlists into Spotify to play and save.

I was essentially responsible for making all of the tech work, researching the best API’s to use, and using these to generate the required playlists in the most efficient ways possible. It was the perfect project for discovering new API’s and managing large amounts of interactive real-time data.
